Purdue students arrested for theft and breaking and entering on campus
Four Purdue University students were arrested last Thursday for theft at a construction site located on Purdue campus. The theft happen between Sept 11 and Sept 24. The investigation comes just as the workers notice that their equipment was missing and the site had been damaged. One upperclassmen and three others who are freshmen confess they had broken into Purdue STEM site on multiple occasions.
Police identified the suspects as William D. Long, 19, a first year engineering freshman from Sandy Springs, Georgia; Landon W. Clouser, 19, another first year freshman from Swayzee; Jason E. Lee, 18, also a freshman in the Polytechnic Institute from South Bend; and Josh L. Roiter, 18, a sophomore in the Polytechnic Institute from Crown Point. They stole essential equipment from the site such as hard hats and safety harnesses. They also inflicted damage to a temporary door with a sledgehammer. The suspects were caught on surveillance cameras and identified the students by the Purdue University staff. As the students were located, all items of the construction site that were stolen were returned and recovered. Tippecanoe County issued possible charges of theft, burglary, and trespassing. It is unknown at this time if the Prosecutor's Office will press charges toward the Purdue University students.
