Students shook to their core as they report being robbed at gunpoint on Chowan University campus



  Three Chowan University students held gunpoint in a robbery that took place on a North Carolina campus. Students at Chowan University was in a shocking surprise after a shooting and a armed robbery transpired on campus within a span of a week. Chowan University police released a statement detailing a robbery that occurred on campus Saturday. Three students of Chowan University alleged that they were robbed of their cell phones and a debit card near a dormitory called Dunn Hall. They have said one of the assailants had a firearm. After the incident occurred, the students said they walked back to another residence hall and called the police. An alarming alert went out to students and faculty to clarify no one was harmed. A shelter in place notice was into effect and was lifted within a hour after a complete sweep of campus was done.

  This incident comes just after a week of a reported shooting on the other side of Chowan University at Whites crossing student housing. According to campus police, officers responded after students detailed that shots were fired. In a release statement, police announce to the public that no students were wounded on campus. Nevertheless, two students were found injured off campus and taken to a medical facility and treated for injuries and released on good terms. Officials seize two suspects in custody with ties to the shooting. Students at Chowan University feel uneasy and fear for their life on campus. One student said there not enough security around the campus and that the students are not safe at school. She also said there needs to be more restrictions on how open the campus is and that there needs to be a block on who can come in or out of the campus. Both incidents are considered to be people of Murfreesboro area and not merely Chowan University students.
